How to Install and Manage WordPress Themes
Learn how to install, activate, and customize WordPress themes to design your website.
WordPress themes control the design and layout of your website. You can install free themes, upload premium ones, and customize them to match your brand.
1. Access the Themes Section
Log in to your WordPress dashboard (
https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin).Go to Appearance → Themes.
2. Install a Free Theme
Click Add New.
Browse or search for a theme in the WordPress directory.
Click Install → Activate.
3. Upload a Premium Theme
Download the .zip file from your theme provider.
In WordPress, click Add New → Upload Theme.
Choose the file → click Install Now → Activate.
4. Customize Your Theme
Go to Appearance → Customize.
Change colors, fonts, menus, and homepage layout.
Save & publish changes.
5. Manage Installed Themes
Switch between themes anytime under Appearance → Themes.
Delete unused themes to reduce clutter and improve security.
6. Update Themes Regularly
Updates often include security fixes and new features.
Go to Dashboard → Updates to keep your theme up to date.
Tip: Always back up your site before switching or updating themes, especially if you’ve made custom code edits.
