How to Back Up and Restore Your Hosting Account

Learn how to create and restore backups of your hosting account, including files, emails, and databases.

Backups are an essential safety net for your website and hosting account. With Ace Intl Media hosting, you can create full or partial backups through your control panel.

1. Why Hosting Backups Matter

  • Protect your site against accidental changes or malware.

  • Recover files or databases after updates or errors.

  • Safeguard emails and configurations.

2. Create a Backup in cPanel

  • Log in to cPanel.

  • Go to Files → Backup.

  • Options available:

    • Full Backup – backs up all files, databases, and email accounts.

    • Partial Backup – select home directory, databases, or email.

  • Click Download Backup and save to your computer.

3. Create a Backup in Plesk

  • Log in to Plesk.

  • Go to Websites & Domains → Backup Manager.

  • Click Back Up and choose full or incremental backup.

  • You can store backups locally or to remote storage (FTP, Google Drive, etc.).

4. Restore from a Backup

  • cPanel: Go to Files → Backup → Restore and upload your backup file.

  • Plesk: Go to Backup Manager → Backups → choose the backup → click Restore.

5. Best Practices

  • Keep at least 2–3 recent backups at all times.

  • Store one backup off-site (cloud storage).

  • Test restores periodically to ensure backups work.

Tip: For WordPress sites, you may also use plugins (e.g., UpdraftPlus) for additional scheduled backups.
